The fleet of double-handed speed machines that are the Flying Phantoms will flock to Baie de Quiberon, France from 18-21 May for the second Act of their five-Act Series.

Four days of fast-paced foiling action will be hosted by the ENVSN – the National School for Sailing and Watersports. A breeding ground for French sailing stars, the Host Venue is the prime location for the Flying Phantom teams to face each other in their second fight for the 2018 top spot.

On the leeward side of a peninsula in north-western France, Baie de Quiberon affords the teams with plenty of wind whilst still sheltering them from the strong conditions of the Atlantic Ocean. With the bay offering up perfect flat water, Act 2 allows for a true foiling spectacle, with six whirlwind races expected each day

“We’re expecting perfect conditions in Quiberon,” said Théo Constance of Culture Foil. “Similar to the first event in Oman – great wind and great foiling, we can’t wait.”

Looking to defend their Act 1 win, fellow French sailors Team France Jeune are no strangers to the racecourse in Quiberon.

“Myself and Solune learnt to sail in Quiberon Bay when we were young, and we train at the ENVSN in the Flying Phantom,” explained crew Antoine Rucard. “We are really looking forward to racing at home.”

Not everyone is familiar with the area though. Portuguese pair UON Sailing Team will make their Quiberon debut, but bring with them plenty of Flying Phantom experience, having taken part in the Series last year.

“It will be our first time in Quiberon, but we’re excited to have a bigger fleet – it will make for more spectacular racing. We’re aiming for a top-five finish, but we’re really gunning for first owner-driver!”

The fleet will race from 11:00 local time each day. Fans can follow the racing on the official Flying Phantom Series Facebook, or head to the ENVSN to catch the battle first hand.
